Sumner-class destroyer, is the only ship of the United States Navy to be named for Reigart Bolivar Lowry, who served in the Mexican-American War and was a memberof Commodore Mathew C. Perry's expedition to Japan in 1855.Lowry was laid down1 August 1943 by Bethlehem Steel Co., San Pedro, California; launched 6 February 1944; sponsored by Miss Ann Lowry; and commissioned 23 July 1944, Commander L.H. Martin in command.Brand NEW, well detailed, and a great collectors piece. Corners of patch is slightly frayed.
